Thoughts For The Future

Jobs are a funny thing. We need them to keep us from being poverty stricken, to save for things we want, and they take up a huge percentage of our time. I believe having a job that fulfils you and gives you purpose is important. After all, if you are going to work in the same place day in and day out for most of your life, you might as well enjoy it.

As it stands, I do not enjoy my current job, but I know it is not forever. I am using it to progress to what I want to do, which I hope will take me further than my home city. I have wanted to move from Manchester for quite some time now. It will always be my home, but I have done everything there is to do here and (if I am honest) I feel as though it is a place I have never fully fitted into.

The problem with making plans is that life always likes to throw curve balls at you. It was only a month ago that I was excited at the prospect of doing my Masters, now that ship has sailed I have to decide what I want to do all over again. Right now, I want to move to London. It is a place that I not only love, but I also have a lot of friends there. Although I love nature and greenery, I know I ultimately need to be near a city. Growing up in a city environment has caused me to have heart palpitations if I am not close to an IMAX or Starbucks (jk). I am also a lover of history, which London is a playground for. People keep droning on to me about how Salford now has Media City, but I don’t want to work there. My field in media is Documentary and Drama, where as Salford is more reality TV, such as Dragon’s Den. I am hoping to move down later in the year and in the mean time I am saving, seeing friends and planning holidays.

I think life is too short to waste time with “what ifs.” If something isn’t working, change it. If you want something enough, you will do everything you can to get it. I want to do something I am passionate about, in a place that makes me happy, and I know if I don’t stop striving for it then I will eventually get it.

Apologies for the cheesy undertones in this post.
